Course Description: This course provides a survey of the great thinkers of the Western philosophical tradition. We begin with a study of the Pre-Socratic Greek philosophers and conclude with 19th Century philosophy with an emphasis on the battling economic philosophies of Karl Marx and Adam Smith. The class also examines the western principles that have guided guided the development of Western ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology.
