Course Description: This course examines the evolution of the political and social institutions of the Western world from an historical, cultural, and thematic perspective. Our study includes the Ancient Greek concept of democracy, the rise of Christian hierarchy and orthodoxy, the European Renaissance, the Revolutions (Industrial and French),and the resulting democratic nation-states that exist today.
